How Do I Get a Custom Domain for My Site?

Learn how to register a new domain, transfer your existing domain to Seravo, or manage additional domains for your website.

Unregistered Domain Name

If the domain name you want is not yet registered, the easiest option is to order it through us. The price of each service package includes one domain name (.fi/.com/.net/.org etc.), which also covers name servers (DNS) and annual registration fees. We will also handle the annual renewal of the domain on your behalf. You can order your desired domains using the order form. We will take care of the domain registration for you when delivering the order. If you require a non-typical domain extension for your site (such as .vi or .rich), please contact our customer service to confirm the pricing for a special top-level domain.

Domain Under Your Own Management

If you prefer, you can also manage the registration, name servers, and renewals of the domain yourself. However, please make sure to still add the existing, already registered domain name on the order form.

Additional Domains

Do you need multiple domain names for your website? You can add them to your service package when making the order, or later by contacting our customer service at [email protected].

A small fee is charged for each additional domain, covering all maintenance work performed by Seravo, regardless of whether the customer participates in the domain's upkeep or not (for example, by handling renewals and annual fees independently). The price of an additional domain includes registration fees, name servers, domain routing, performance monitoring, as well as related consultation and troubleshooting. The price also includes a dedicated HTTPS certificate for each domain. The price remains the same even if all of these services are not actively utilized. For instance, if the registration fees or name servers are maintained through another provider, the fee is still charged for monitoring, troubleshooting, and consultation.

Adding domains via the order form: Enter your desired domain in the "Primary Domain" field.

I Already Have a Domain

If you already have a domain, you can use it with Seravo’s WP service. Place the order normally and state the domains on the order form. In the second step of the order form, please list the keys required for domain management and the name server records (DNS zone).

  • For .fi domains, the required key is called a Registrar Transfer Code (välittäjänvaihtoavain – please note that the authorization key used prior to September 5, 2016, is no longer valid). Note: A holder transfer key (siirtoavain) is not suitable for transferring a domain from one registrar to another. If you are transferring a domain to Seravo's management, always request a Registrar Transfer Code from your current registrar.

  • For other domains (.com, .net, .org, etc.), the term used is typically an Authorization Code or Transfer Key.

Additionally, it is recommended to notify your previous provider's customer service that the domain will be transferred, so that any potential transfer locks can be removed.

According to regulations, the domain's transfer code must be requested from the old registrar in writing prior to the domain transfer. If you did not provide the codes during the ordering phase, you can send the key details later via email. Changing the domain management information takes 1–7 days depending on the registry's processing time. Therefore, the details should be provided well in advance so that the administrative part is fully prepared before it is time to launch the site and update the name servers.

Domain Ownership Always Belongs to the Customer

Seravo acts only as the domain upkeeper, taking care of the technical details. However, ownership always remains with the customer. Seravo requires the transfer code and the name server records to handle the technical maintenance and annual fees on your behalf. As a customer, you always own the domains.
