Can I use my own DNS?
Yes. Although our plans include everything you need for your own domain names, such as name servers and DNS configuration, you can also set up your own DNS.
Please note that transferring a domain is not the same thing as migrating your WordPress site.
Point your domain(s) to the server cluster your site is located in. If you are pointing additional domains to your website on our server, please contact our customer support at help@seravo.com, and we will activate the additional domains. Activation is needed for each domain, so that they can be routed correctly. The server cluster of your site can be found from the order confirmation email. Current clusters, their names/IP addresses and default DNS records are:

To make sure that spam filters pass the emails sent from the website, you should also have the following records in the DNS:
SendGrid DomainKey and SPF Records
In order for the email messages that are sent by your WordPress site (such as email sent by contact forms) to get through spam filters as well as possible, the DNS zone should also include the records of the SMTP service used by Seravo. (SendGrid). These include the DKIM records:
s1._domainkey 10800 IN CNAME s1.domainkey.u2403587.wl088.sendgrid.net. s2._domainkey 10800 IN CNAME s2.domainkey.u2403587.wl088.sendgrid.net. sg 10800 IN CNAME u2403587.wl088.sendgrid.net.
Furthermore, you have to modify the SPF-record so that it includes a lookup of SendGrid, the SMTP-service used by Seravo: include:sendgrid.net
.
@ 10800 IN TXT "v=spf1 a mx include:sendgrid.net ~all"
DMARC Record
If necessary, a DMARC record can also be added (for the apex domain, or separately for the subdomain) to tighten spam filtering. The format of the record depends on the DMARC policy the domain owner wishes to follow, and Seravo cannot determine the content of the record on behalf of the customer. However, if you wish, you can add a DMARC record such as this one:
_dmarc 10800 IN TXT "v=DMARC1; p=none;"
How can I add a subomain on my site?
If you want to enable a subdomain on your site, such as example.domain.com, and the site was located in the se-broo server cluster, the record would be as follows:
example 10800 IN CNAME se-broo.seravo.com.
If you wish to also enable the www prefix, such as www.example.domain.com, the record would be as follows:
www.example 10800 IN CNAME se-broo.seravo.com.
DNS
You are still required to inform us and order each domain from Seravo, so that we can route the requests from our front servers to your sites properly. Some clients also have variations in their DNS records, but the correct records and configurations will be determined at the time of informing Seravo about the additional domains.
If you want to handle the domains and the routing by yourself without Seravo's assistance, it is of utmost importance that you understand DNS basics and HTTP routing well enough, to be able to define and test that all the domains are working properly.
We strongly recommend our customers to entrust their DNS control to Seravo for the best and most care-free experience. This means that there is only one bill covering all costs, and it is usually the best way to avoid issues with DNS configuration. If the configurations are incorrect, the website might not work at all. To prevent this from happening, it would be best to let Seravo be responsible of the entire process, all the way from domain verification to DNS configurations, as well as the website specific settings in server environments.
