Basic email from Seravo
It is possible to order a basic email account from Seravo. For companies and business use, we recommend a full-fledged email service (like the Google Workspace). For very basic needs however we can create an email account if the domain is registered by Seravo, or has been transferred to us. Our domain registrar offers email accounts as an add-on service. If you need a new mailbox, please contact Seravo's customer service!
The old webmail interface (Roundcube) allowed you to only send and read emails, but the new SOGo interface has also more advanced features, like out-of-office replies and mail forwarding. To set up them, go to mail settings via the gear icon (see blow) and click Mail > Vacation or Mail > Forward. Since 2021 the webmail interface also supports 2FA.
IMAP settings in e-mail applications
You can read your email with separate email applications using the following IMAP settings. With Windows, Mac and Linux workstations we suggest using the open source Mozilla Thunderbird e-mail application. For security reasons, we advise you not to use Outlook. Email can be accessed with any smartphone app which supports the IMAP protocol.
Server settings in the email application:
IMAP-server (incoming email) Incoming server name: mail.gandi.net Port: 993 (IMAP SSL) TLS or SSL: Yes Username: firstname.lastname@example.org Password: xxxxx
SMTP-server (outgoing email) Outgoing (SMTP) server name : mail.gandi.net Port : 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS) TLS or SSL: yes SMTP Authentication: yes Username: email@example.com Password: xxxxx
Sender information in Thunderbird
We recommend using Mozilla Thunderbird as your desktop email application, which is available for Windows, Mac and Linux workstations. To setup the application, you need the IMAP settings (above).
To setup the sender information, navigate to Preferences > Account Settings. You may write your desired address into the Email Address field in the Default Identity section.
Alternatively, you can add multiple sender addresses by choosing the Manage Identities and Add options. After this you may choose your desired sender from the drop-down menu in the sender field.
Transferring emails and contacts
If you've been suing some other email service provider you can import the existing emails with the help of Roundcube user interface:
Limitations of the email service
Are you sending newsletters? Seravo's email service is not intended nor suitable for sending newsletters with lots of recipients. Instead, it is a good idea to use a separate newsletter service and a WordPress plugin (e.g. MailChimp, MailPoet, Sendinblue). Email from Seravo supports sending up to 15 (webmail) or 40 (email client such as Thunderbird) recipients. The basic email box has 3GB of disk space (50GB in the premium box). Maximum attachment size is 25 MB – messages with attachments larger than this will be rejected. It is currently not possible to create an email box in a subdomain (firstname.lastname@example.org).
