Short answer: No, your server space cannot be used as a general-purpose web host. Seravo's server architecture and upkeep services are designed and optimized exclusively for WordPress sites, and running standalone third-party web applications or alternative CMS platforms is not permitted.
Our hosting plan resources, automated updates, and Security Guarantee cover WordPress specifically. We do, however, permit certain developer tools and lightweight utilities that directly support WordPress.
Prohibited Applications and Standalone Systems
Installing separate resource-intensive systems or independent web applications that operate outside of WordPress or replace it is not allowed.
Examples of prohibited systems:
Database management tools: Standalone installations such as phpMyAdmin (Seravo provides secure, pre-installed tools for database management, including Adminer and
wp db cli).Cloud storage and file-sharing platforms: Nextcloud, ownCloud, or similar heavy file management systems.
Self-hosted analytics tools: Self-hosted Matomo (On-Premise) or Piwik installations.
Alternative content management systems and application frameworks: Independent websites built on Drupal, Joomla, Laravel, or Django.
If unauthorized applications or heavy systems are detected on the server, we reserve the right to stop or remove them immediately without prior notice to safeguard server stability and ensure uninterrupted performance for other sites.
Permitted Exceptions and Developer Tools
Not all non-WordPress code is prohibited. The following assets and tools are permitted, provided they do not compromise server stability or consume excessive resources:
Static content: Static HTML pages, campaign landing pages, PDF documents, and media files placed in subdirectories.
Lightweight helper scripts: Individual, lightweight PHP scripts (such as webhook receivers or simple form handlers) that do not require a separate database or persistent background processes.
Theme build tools: Developers are free to use pre-installed server tools (Composer, npm, Node.js) to build and compile themes and plugins (
npm run build).Node.js microservices supporting WordPress: Running small background utilities that directly complement WordPress functionality (such as lightweight APIs or bots) managed via PM2 is allowed in accordance with our developer documentation. Please note that the upkeep and maintenance of custom background processes are solely the developer's responsibility.

Seravo's Security Guarantee does not cover standalone third-party software or custom background processes installed on the server. Our upkeep and tested updates cover only the WordPress core, plugins, and themes. If an unauthorized application introduces a security vulnerability, our automated security monitoring may remove it immediately.
CPU and memory consumption: All custom scripts and Node background processes must operate strictly within your plan’s resource limits. If a process causes memory leaks or impacts WordPress or database performance, our technical team reserves the right to terminate it.
Out-of-scope support: If third-party applications require investigation or troubleshooting by Seravo’s customer support or technical team, the time spent will be billed according to our expert services price list.
Recommended Alternatives for Other Applications
If you need to run systems alongside your WordPress site, we recommend the following approaches:
Use SaaS cloud solutions: Opt for dedicated cloud services for analytics and storage (such as Matomo Cloud, Google Analytics, Dropbox, or Microsoft 365). They run independently of your web server and stay automatically updated.
Dedicated Virtual Private Server (VPS): If you need to run full custom web applications, separate databases, or alternative CMS platforms, we recommend provisioning a separate general-purpose VPS from a specialized provider.
